The Newlane Mips takes everything riders love about the original folding design — half-size fold, EN 1078 certification, UK-made precision — and adds the Mips Brain Protection System for an extra layer of safety.
Mips is used across 100+ helmet brands worldwide and is designed to reduce harmful rotational motion transferred to your head in an oblique impact — a leading cause of concussion and more severe brain injury. Newlane didn't just bolt it on: the helmet was extensively tested in the Mips laboratory in Sweden to ensure the low-friction layer works seamlessly within the folding shell, so you're not trading protection for portability.
Like the Original, it features a precision dial-fit system in sizes M and L, and folds down small enough to fit in any bag — perfect for commuters, students, and anyone who refuses to choose between convenience and safety. Available in White.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Mips safety system?
The Mips system is designed to provide added safety for helmets in many accidents. For certain impacts, the Mips system can reduce harmful rotational motion that might otherwise be transferred to the user’s head. The Mips system is used in many helmet types and by 100+ brands.
How does the Mips system work?
Should you have an accident and hit your head, the Mips system in your helmet is designed to help reduce the rotational motion of certain impacts that may otherwise be transferred to your head. Rotational motion is a common cause for concussions and more severe brain injury in oblique hits to the head. The Mips system consists of a low friction layer that is mounted inside the helmet. In a crash, the low friction layer is designed to move slightly inside the helmet in order to help redirect rotational motion away from the head. This is intended to help reduce the risk of brain injury.
How safe is the Newlane Helmet?
Completely. The Newlane Helmet has surpassed the EN 1078 - The European safety standard, making it as safe as any other helmet. It's undergone rigorous testing and you can head over to oursafety testing page for full details.
Have you done extra tests to integrate the Mips safety system?
We've carried out extensive additional testing in the Mips laboratory in Sweden. This makes the Newlane work seamlessly with the Mips system, providing additional safety in many types of accidents.
