Serious Fun
A serious upgrade compared to my old series 1 bamboo GTR, which I used daily for 3 years. My first time riding it was a shock, had to go into the settings and lower the acceleration until I got used to the board. Absolutely annihilates steep hills and is a joy to ride and carve - get about 40km as Evolve advertises for range. Speed and acceleration drop throughout the ride as the battery voltage decreases, which is to be expected, but only by a little.
After riding for 350km around the city these past 3 months, I have noticed only 4 minor problems:
The first is that if you are cruising between 25-30 km/h the acceleration is a bit sluggish.
Secondly, say you are stopped at a pedestrian crossing and you are slightly uphill and you apply the throttle to keep yourself from rolling backwards, after a few seconds the motors will cut out and you will have to release the trigger and reapply the throttle - takes some getting used to and wasn't a problem on my gtr series 1 board.
Thirdly, the on/off button is pretty badly designed and is kinda fragile - I broke mine not a couple of weeks after getting it - the guys at Ben Buckler really looked after me though, dropped the board off at their Marrickville store and they fixed it really fast and were super friendly.
And lastly, from other online reviews, I've gathered that the Hadean bamboo is not as water resistant as the GTR 1 & 2 or the Hadean carbon, so I avoid big puddles - riding in even light rain is a no-go as well.
Still, an…
